What is it?
A prior art search is an important initial step towards protecting your intellectual property (IP).

Why you should perform a prior art search:
It's frequently important to become familiar with the prior art specifically related to your idea. Becoming familiar with "what's out there" not only has IP ramifications—but it may also effect your future plans to commercialize and market your idea.

Are there any limitations?
No prior art search can guarantee to find 100% of all the possible prior art. And nobody, including 1st-tech-ideas.com, can guarantee to find all possible prior art related to your idea.

-	You receive our prior art searching guidelines—for you to write and describe/disclose your idea.
-	You send us your disclosure/description by email.
-	We conduct a prior art search, based on your description/disclosure, using primarily the USPTO database of issued patents and published patent applications.
-	We respond with a report, listing typically from 3 to 8 relevant prior art, within typically 5 business days of receipt of your disclosure.
-	We can later work with you, separately, to write and file a non-provisional patent application or to file a provisional patent application, taking advantage of your prior art search.
